Looking at my pictures taken in Hawai'i some time ago, definitely, I can't help thinking of the nice and thrilling moments spent on those fantastic islands. Among several discoveries and sensations, walk and move around "lava land" was the tops. Here I am in the Volcanoes National Park, near Hilo, the largest city on the Big Island. Created to preserve the natural setting of volcanoes Kilauea and Mauna Loa, the park is also a refuge for the island's native plants and animals and a link to its human past. Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution. Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to see an eruption or the river of hot incandescent lava take its route to the ocean, but here I am walking on the lava produced by volcano Kilauea, still very active and full of mysteries. The smell of sulfur in the air is sometimes asfixiating, but once the guards allow you to enter, you know you're breathing at safe levels. Great sensation! I felt very small by getting so close to the powers of Nature in a way I had never experienced before. Memories to be savored forever!
